What's on the other side of the door?

Door Knocker, Shanghai, China
Our life-long nostalgia, our longing to be reunited with something in the universe from which we feel cut off, to be on the inside of some door which we have always seen from the outside, is no mere neurotic fancy, but the truest index of our real situation.
~ C.S. Lewis ~
Some of my favorite memories growing up involve our family vacations "out west." To me, travel through our national parks holds a perpetual romance - this "life-long nostalgia." To be in our parks is to stand at the door, as C.S. Lewis described, and begin to peer through to the majesty of the creator. It is no daydream or fantasy - it is reminding us that home is on the other side.
Thanks for looking,
